About the Presentation
In my work with nurses, the majority are skilled in addressing conflicts with patients. The conflicts that occur with one another, however, are not always so easy to navigate. Even though we can usually not take a patient's negativity personally, many of us believe that our colleagues should be our supporters and not make our jobs more difficult. In this presentation, I wish to highlight our amazing capacity to nurture and maintain healthy productive staff relationships, through creating a work environment where communication is based on determining everyone's part in the "crunchy" relationships. In committing to positive change, it's helpful to own our piece in the "crunchiness," and honor everyone's (including ours) innocence. It is when we cease and desist from being victims and creating villains, that we can better identify everyone's capacity to shift judgmental thoughts (that may or may not be true) to love and understanding for ourselves and others. This is the framework that builds a workplace driven by positive, good feeling energies!

Scarlett Lunning is the owner of Lunning Coaching & Consulting, a business she began in 2015, after fifteen years working for Iowa Mediation Service (IMS) as a mediator, facilitator, and trainer. Her practice is based on the understanding of the Three Principles of Mind, Thought, & Consciousness. She is passionate about each of our capacities to shift negative self-perceptions to healthy and light-filled mental states. Working with the West Des Moines Police Youth Justice Initiative (YJI) she assists in facilitating the Family Class, and coaches family members. For Employee and Family Resources (EFR) she provides mediations, coaching, and trainings to healthcare facilities, and staff in addition to a plethora of other businesses. She is currently in the process of completing her Nurse Coaching Certification.
Scarlett also contracts with the West Des Moines Police Department. There she serves as a facilitator and conflict resolution coach for individuals and families through West Des Moines Police Department’s Youth Justice Initiative (YJI), a restorative justice program.
