Nurse\\\'s Voice Summit Presentation

Healing the Healers: Moving Beyond Burnout to Sustainable Wellbeing

First available August 1, 2026 - ongoing on demand

About the Presentation

Nurses enter the profession with a deep commitment to caring for others, yet the cumulative demands of direct patient care, increasing patient acuity, staffing shortages, administrative responsibilities, and personal obligations can leave even the most dedicated clinicians functioning in chronic survival mode. Over time, this persistent stress contributes to compassion fatigue, emotional exhaustion, unhealthy coping behaviors, decreased job satisfaction, and an increased risk of physical and mental health concerns. While healthcare organizations continue to invest in employee wellbeing, a disconnect often exists between the realities of frontline caregiving and the support systems designed to address them, limiting opportunities for meaningful prevention, recovery, and retention. This presentation introduces a practical, whole-person framework that integrates current understanding of stress physiology, emotional resilience, communication, self-awareness, and sustainable self-care into realistic strategies that can be implemented in demanding clinical environments. Participants will explore how chronic stress affects individual wellbeing, team dynamics, and organizational culture while learning practical, immediately applicable techniques to strengthen emotional regulation, enhance communication, build resilience, and support sustainable caregiving. By bridging the gap between individual and organizational responsibility, this session provides actionable strategies that empower healthcare professionals to thrive while fostering healthier workplace cultures, improved workforce retention, and compassionate, high-quality patient care.
